Part-Time: Outreach Assistant or Coordinator

HC DrugFree is seeking a highly professional, energetic, and self-motivated individual to join our dynamic team as a Part-Time Outreach Coordinator. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about making a difference in the community. While the position is primarily remote, occasional in-person work is required for events, and therefore we are looking for Howard County residents to fill this position.

Responsibilities: 

  • Event Coordination: Assist in planning, implementing, and attending community events.
  • Educational Engagement: Teach classes and/or oversee instruction within our established programs.
  • Content Development: Develop or coordinate educational presentations 
  • Outreach & Promotion: Collaborate with the team to advertise, recruit, and register participants  for classes and events.
  • Volunteer Management: Recruit and coordinate volunteers to support our events.
  • Social Media & Digital Presence: Support social media and outreach efforts, including basic website maintenance, posting digital content and advertisements, and communicating with other organizations and professionals. 
  • Community Representation: Serve as an ambassador for HC DrugFree at community events.
  • Other tasks as needed.

What We’re Looking For: 

  • Strong Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and stay organized.
  • Digital Competency: Excellent proficiency in Google Suite, Zoom, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), as well as the ability to maintain websites and social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn) is essential.
  • Independent & Collaborative: Ability to work independently while contributing to a close-knit team.
  • Availability: Mostly daytime hours with some evening (2-4 per month) and occasional weekend events.
  • Community Familiarity: Howard County residents who are knowledgeable about the local area and community values.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with relevant experience preferred (current college or graduate students are welcome to apply!)
  • Must have excellent digital experience, typing, and computer skills.
  • Ability to lift or move 15 pounds.
  • Availability of approximately 20 hours per week
  • Resident of Howard County.
  • Current driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for events in Howard County.

Compensation:

  • Starting salary minimum of $20/hr with potential for increase after 30 days of employment.
  • Benefits not included.

Part-Time Marketing & Outreach Assistant

HC DrugFree is seeking a creative and technologically advanced individual to fill the part-time role of Marketing & Outreach Assistant, with potential for advancement within the organization. This position is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for community engagement, marketing, and technology. While the position is primarily remote, occasional in-person work is required for events, and therefore we are looking for Howard County residents to fill this position.

  • Content Creation: Design engaging flyers, promotional images, and videos to support outreach efforts.
  • Event Collaboration: Assist in planning and coordinating events, classes, and community programs.
  • Community Representation: Attend community events, meetings, and in-person gatherings to represent HC DrugFree.
  • Tech Support: Run technology for virtual classes, community programs, and meetings.
  • Administrative Support: Provide assistance with various administrative tasks as needed.

  • Must have excellent digital experience, typing, and computer skills.
  • Ability to lift or move 15 pounds.
  • Availability of approximately 20 hours per week (total hours based on annual grants/contracts).
  • Resident of Howard County.
  • Current driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for events in Howard County.

Compensation:

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience. 
  • Starting salary minimum of $20/hr with potential for increase after 30 days of employment.

Part Time: College Students Wanted for Virtual Position (Spring 2025)

HC DrugFree is looking for college students raised in Howard County and available to assist virtually this during Spring 2025. More information will be available closer to the start of Spring classes. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience and build a resume. The primary assignment is to teach and/or assist with our Life Skills classes for middle school students. We may also have additional hours/opportunities available for the right candidate(s). HC DrugFree plans to hire 2-3 college students for this paid opportunity. More information will be shared closer to summer.


Volunteer Opportunities

HC DrugFree is always looking for volunteers to help with events and programs throughout the year.

High School Mentors for Life Skills Classes (Spring 2025)

Seeking high school students in grades 9-12 to volunteer as student mentors for our Life Skills classes geared toward middle school students. High school volunteers will be assisting our team of college student teachers and adult facilitators this summer. Along with the younger students, high school volunteers will learn a variety of practical skills by attending the classes, but in addition, they may earn community service hours and acquire valuable experience for future college and employment applications. Life Skills classes will run during Spring 2025. More information will be shared closer to summer.


Youth Volunteers

We have various opportunities for youth volunteers throughout the year. To earn community service hours, students must register for HC DrugFree’s Teen Advisory Council (TAC).
